There’s a Chinese idiom: "duì niú tán qín" (literally "a person playing the lute to a cow"), which refers to the futility of expending effort on someone who can’t or won’t appreciate it. But artists argue that something is even more ridiculous—"cows playing the lute to each other." It’s a universal phenomenon, happening nearly every minute of every day, yet most people don’t see it as an issue at all.
