About this artwork
Two eyes stand out in the painting. On closer inspection, the viewer notices that he is being watched by a predator, in this case a jaguar, and is being viewed as a possible prey. The animal's head is only partially visible, the rest is hidden and camouflaged behind plants and foliage. Some of the plants are modeled in the painting, which further increases the tension in the image. You get the feeling that the animal could emerge from cover at any… moment and pounce.
Johann Acher, an artist of very colorful paintings, likes to use acrylic paints and oil pastels. He often uses modeled elements in his paintings as a central means of expression, which literally stand out from his works and give the viewer a sense of depth in addition to what is painted. Acher's art often shows portraits of special people and animals, and their strong expression is intended to stimulate the viewer's senses.
