About this artwork
This piece is about the possibility of the impossible. With the Grand Canyon in the background this is a focus is on trees growing seemingly out of solid rock with no soil, source of water, or nutrients. How two seeds came to sprout, take root, survive winter's freezing cold, and summer's hot searing days seems like an impossible feat achieved. Enjoy dreaming of the impossible, inspired by two very adventurous seeds who succeeded.

John Hazel, a self-taught painter hailing from rural Central California, works primarily in watercolor, having cultivated his talent through sketching and lifelong creative exploration. When I picked up a brush and painted my first watercolor in 2016 at age 67 I did not comprehend the impact of that moment on my life and the new paths down which it has taken me. I never intended to embark on a path of publicly displaying or selling any of my paintings, but with time and practice talent emerged and a conviction developed to share the gift I have been blessed with beyond friends, family and the walls of my house.
