About this artwork
This painting came into being after a trip with my daughter in December 2021. I became fascinated by Prague Castle and the Vltava River, and every evening I took photos with the idea that I wanted to make a painting of this. Using oil paint, I created a vibrant mix of impressionism and realism, in which the energy and charm of the city come to life. My brushstrokes capture the changing light reflections on the water and evoke a sense of timeless… tranquility. This painting brings the bustling atmosphere and warm colors of the cityscape directly into your home, full of emotion and movement.
Joke Bennis is a self-taught painter who explores both realistic and impressionistic styles, driven by a passion for learning and experimenting. She skillfully employs fine-art realism in portraits and landscapes, while her impressionistic cityscapes burst with lively colors and expressive brushstrokes. Her impressionistic pieces radiate joy, whereas her realistic works aim to move and touch the viewer’s heart.
