About this artwork
Dolomite is the second sculpture in the Pop Rocks series, created from woven aluminum soda can strips and shaped to evoke the presence of a weathered standing stone. Named after a sedimentary rock and inspired by the artist’s memory of seeing Stonehenge for the first time, Dolomite speaks to awe, permanence, and the passage of time. Its surface, shimmering with fragments of commercial branding, contrasts sharply with the ancient forms it references—highlighting…
the irony of using materials born from geological processes, mass-refined, and now repurposed into an echo of stone. As with all in the Pop Rocks series, Dolomite explores the tension between nature, memory, and consumer culture through a playful yet reflective lens.
