About this artwork
Pebble is the first sculpture in the Pop Rocks series, crafted from woven strips of discarded aluminum soda cans. Reminiscent of a small, water-worn stone you might find on a beach, Pebble blends the natural with the artificial—its smooth, rounded form evoking the quiet beauty of coastal geology, while its vibrant, branded surface speaks to consumer culture and waste. The irony of recreating a rock from aluminum—a material originally extracted from…
ancient stone—anchors the work in themes of transformation and environmental reflection. Like the fizzy candy Pop Rocks, which inspired the series title, Pebble balances playfulness and critique, nostalgia and consequence.
