A sculpture that begins the research process for the new Duality collection. The work has been exhibited in several venues, which means it's not 100% perfect. When light is projected onto it, it bounces off its stainless steel, creating waves of light.
Throughout the history of sculpture, the column has been a symbol of stability, structural support, and permanence. However, in Column of Duality, this idea is subverted: steel, the quintessential… material of solidity and strength, is presented here as a flexible, almost organic entity, with folds and undulations that defy its traditionally rigid nature.
This play of opposites introduces us to a philosophical dialogue about the duality inherent in existence. The sculpture embodies the tension between two seemingly irreconcilable forces: the firm and the fluid, the immutable and the transient, the artificial and the natural.
« I understand art as a way of transmitting emotions through geometry. »
José Soler is a sculptor based in Spain whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Monaco, Italy, and France. Through each of his pieces, he endeavors to bring out the melody that lives within each of us. Soler cites the conversion of cold steel into sculpture as being his way of connecting with what is invisible to our eyes and what can only perceived with universal feelings.
