About this artwork

This work continues in the vein of what I call Neo Geometric Minimalism, Using components of Cubism, Suprematism, Constructivism, Minimalism, and Geometric Hard Edge. I work intuitively, I tried to strike up some rhythm, composition, and balance between the different colors, shapes, and colors. I use a mixture of acrylic paint, gesso, and matte medium to give the work a rich depth of color. The paper is a heavy stock which is also gessoed before… creating the painting. Titled, dated and signed on the back. This painting is in a private collection in New York, NY.

Juan Jose Hoyos Quiles is an American artist whose works have been exhibited in the United States. Fueled by his love of abstraction, he identifies as being an abstract, geometric, and hard-edge painter. Quiles'bold and minimalist compositions follow the visual codes of concrete and non-objective art. He likens his artistic process to a dance, where he continuously explores new steps between color and geometry.
