The central idea of this work was to depict a bird with human… characteristics, based on the ancient Greek theory of the four temperaments, as described by Hippocrates and Galen. In this case, the temperament in question is Phlegmatic, characterized by its tranquility, reliability, and peaceful approach.

Juan Miguel Restrepo Valdés, a Colombian painter, draftsman, and engraver, combines his training in architecture and art from Colombia, Germany, and Austria. He masters symbolism, experimenting with techniques from the great masters and fusing European influences with South American magical realism, while also incorporating elements of surrealism and the baroque. His work, inspired by mythology and religion, introduces the mysterious and enigmatic into everyday life. He manages to convey an atmosphere of wonder, depth, and contemporary reinterpretation of myths, inviting the viewer to reflect on the hidden aspects of the everyday with an intense poetic sensibility.
