A watercolour like this almost paints itself in the imagination. The Severn Estuary has that rare mix of raw industry and wide‑open light, and a motorway vantage point gives it a kind of cinematic sweep.
The painting could open with a broad wash of diluted blues and greys, the sky stretching low and luminous over the estuary. Soft gradients bleed into one another, capturing that shifting coastal weather and giving the whole scene a sense of restless… atmosphere. Beneath it, the water reflects the sky in broken ribbons of silver, slate, and muted turquoise, the brushstrokes loose and fluid to suggest tidal movement rather than a fixed moment.
