About this artwork
It was early morning, there was a mist in the air, and a barely visible fog began to roll in. In about 5 minutes the distant trees were completely covered in greyish white cotton candy haze, gently making its way across the landscape.
The moment was so magical and unusual for Colorado (we hardly ever see fog here), that I was completely stunned. I looked at the scene trying to drink it all in when I heard an unfamiliar sound - the sound of silence.… There was no traffic noise, no human voices, not even wind through the trees. Even the birds stopped chirping. An overwhelming feeling of peace and joy came over me as I stood there quietly lest i disturb the air with any movement. The dog sat silently by my side. He must have felt it too - that feeling of absolute contentment.
In another 10 minutes the moment was gone. The sun came out, the birds started singing again, and we moved on. But that feeling of pleasure and ease stayed with me for the rest of the day.
