About this artwork

"Dream in Bloom" is a deeply personal exploration of the emotional landscapes I find in nature — places where memory, beauty, and transformation collide.
As an artist, I’m drawn to moments that blur the boundaries between realism and abstraction. In this painting, I’ve layered expressive floral forms over a soft seascape to create a surreal, almost dreamlike environment.
Working in acrylic on canvas, I used fluid brushstrokes and gestural textures… to evoke both energy and stillness. The palette — rich in lilac, blush— is intentionally soothing, designed to bring a sense of calm and serenity to the viewer. I think of this piece as a kind of visual meditation: emotional, feminine, and open to interpretation.
My goal with “Dream in Bloom” is to invite the viewer into a poetic space — a place between sky and shore, thought and feeling, where beauty is found in the in-between. Serene seascape, lilac, and coastal are words that describe the artwork.

Julia Hacker is a multidisciplinary artist working between her studios in California and Canada. Proficient in oil, acrylic, handmade collage, and illustration, she brings a rich and varied visual language to her practice. She is an Elected Member of the Canadian Society of Artists and a Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.  Before turning fully to fine art, she established herself as a leading fashion designer, creating collections, magazine editorials, and stage costumes for performers. Julia’s work has been exhibited internationally in solo and group shows across Canada, New York, California, and Texas. She collaborates with interior designers, real estate professionals, and private collectors. Julia holds a professional Painter certification from I-CAC in France and an Artist Value certificate from Akoun, both of which underscore her commitment to excellence.
