About this artwork
Deep Sea II
In Deep Sea, I explore the act of diving – into the primal element of water, into silence, into one's own identity, and into the origin of being. A fish-like figure rises from the darkness like a fragment of consciousness, moving through layers of memory and time. The fish as the bearer of wisdom from the depths of one's own soul.
With this work, poured from the paint bucket, the viewer descends into layers of memory of their own core.
JP Julia Pust lives and works in Hamburg. Her abstract paintings are characterized by spontaneous energy and powerful, expressive gestures. Influenced by Abstract Expressionism and the New York School, she creates impressively reflective, intuitive drip paintings that reflect the vibrancy of her painting style. Her cast works captivate viewers, transform spaces, and create a presence of movement. Within the creative process, the spiritual manifests itself on the canvas, an energy that is not only seen but also experienced. JP prefers to work on large-format canvases that capture and reflect light, architecture, and space in terms of content. This creates a perceptual experience that attracts the viewer and subtly emphasizes the presence of the space.
