About this artwork
Possibility of a diptych.
Suspended 1 and 2 form a diptych but can also be read separately. Shapes overlap and respond to each other through a play of antagonistic colors on a white background. I thought of Calder when creating his two paintings, his use of simple shapes and bold colors, but also the levitation suggested by his mobiles. Freeing oneself from gravity and physical constraints is made possible by abstraction, since it reveals precisely… the unreal. But here the vertical lines are intended to connect the different elements and anchor these two propositions in the concrete, in what falls and must be supported. What is suspended.
Julien Jubault is a self-taught French painter based in Barcelona, working primarily in acrylic on canvas, enhanced with oil, walnut stain, and mineral elements. He embraces abstract expressionism, layering paint and reliefs, simplifying organic forms and sensations, in search of visual balance. He explores perspective through the tension between structuring lines and muted contrasts. His work, inhabited by nature and time, invites contemplation, transmitting a profound emotion linked to the freedom to observe and transform the visible world.
