About this artwork
This installation is a loving homage to the beauty and delicate structure of nature. Using cotton, lace, and embroidered details, I tried to capture the tender naiveté of an insect in the beetles. The background is made of embroidered wool. The whole piece radiates a playful vibrancy that lends any room an organic warmth and natural energy. The combination of fabric and yarn gives the figure a special liveliness and depth.
Juliette Eckel is a textile artist with a fine arts degree and a diverse background as a curator, author, and educator. She exhibits internationally. In her works, she combines ancient textile techniques such as monastic stitching with modern dyeing and printing processes, creating unique structures and an innovative textile language. Her art, often inspired by nature and the abstract, conveys the feeling that "life is art and art is life" – detailed, expressive surfaces invite wonder and experience.
