About this artwork
Inspiration from Kalevala. A Finnish folk lore of Goblin's elk. A demonic elk created by the Hiisi goblins, who send it to create chaos, tease hunters and lure them to the perilous mountains of the underworld. I wanted to turn the story upside down and create a positive story of a magical elk that takes you to the place beyond the pines where everything is possible.
Crafted from aspen wood and clay, finished with oil paints. I envisioned this stag… with a flourishing tree as antlers, symbolizing growth and the cyclic link between all living forms. Each bird perched delicately represents moments—fleeting yet significant. Placing this in your home brings a piece of the wilderness indoors, offering a daily reminder of nature's quiet majesty and interconnectedness.
