About this artwork
Balance Series,
Oil, glued papers, gold powder, charcoal
More and more massive, primitive forms invade the canvas. Blacks impose themselves as much by their mass as by their materials which can be worked in thickness, in lightness or in brilliance. The color, often treated in glaze, disrupts the contrast of white and black. Half-tones, like ivory, golden beige, or strong colors like red or blue settle in and monopolize a large part of the canvas,… to give an intention.
We can thus feel an opposition between the precious and the archaic, which end up balancing each other, leaving a large space for the breathing imposed on us by the white, the background of the canvas.
« It is impossible for me to confine myself and make a choice to express myself in a single language. »
KARDESCH is a visual artist, originally from the Basque Country where she lives and works. From a very young age, She immerses herself in abstract art, drawing from it a mode of personal expression to interpret the the world around her. She structures her research with numbered series, increasingly refusing to title her canvases. Kardesch, woman and artist, prefers the coherence of cycles, those very same that give rhythm to life, the intertwined, woven logics. It stubbornly resists interpretation criticism that could constrain the vital energy that characterizes it and would like to define what continues to to write. She exhibits regularly in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Ile de France. Her works are also present internationally (Geneva, New York, Miami, Osaka, Seoul).
