About this artwork
A symbol of the creative force and liberty - an emblem between worlds that inhabit space. These goddess figures are not passive muses. They are protectors, intermediaries, and at times, avengers—calling forth the dark, often suppressed forces of the feminine interior.
The work is influenced by what has been called ‘die Philosophie vom ‘bösen Sex’ und ‘gefährlichen Beischlaf’—the notion of sex as danger, and rape as a means of social control, embedded… across religious and mythological traditions. These stories are not holding on to the past, but shaping how bodies—particularly female ones—are read, handled, adorned, and controlled.
