About this artwork
The artwork "Cloud Dancer (Waves #3)" unites color and movement into luminous vibrations full of lightness. Gentle waves in white, gray, pink, orange, yellow, and blue flow like dancing clouds on the horizon, between clarity and delicate blurring. I worked with a comb and palette knife into the still-wet acrylic paint. This created fine structures and rhythmic traces that amplify the vibrant pulse of the motif.
The artwork embodies the stillness… and movement of the sky – a silent dance of light, harmony, and energy. This unique piece, created on high-quality canvas (70 x 50 cm), is ready to hang and invites the viewer to connect with their own positive vibrations. It has already been exhibited.

Katrin Mates' works are receiving growing international attention – several of her works have already been included in collections and curated exhibitions.
Her painting exists in the tension between structure and dissolution. Drawing on the craft tradition of decorative papermaking, she combines her knowledge of color, rhythm, and material with contemporary abstract painting. Inspired by memories of Samarkand and the light of her childhood, she explores how order arises, disintegrates, and reforms—always searching for that moment when structure becomes permeable and light emerges from within.
