About this artwork
Infused with the dynamic energy of expressionism and the boldness of pop art, my painting is a semi-abstract exploration of the aquatic and the astrological. I've used vibrant acrylics to create an otherworldly figure that symbolizes the fluidity of emotion and the depths of the human psyche. This piece exudes a sense of enchantment and mystery, designed to bring a surge of creative energy and introspection into any space. Named after the Zodiac… mermaid representation of the Mermaid in a bathtub drinking a glass of wine. That's how this image, this attitude, feels to me. It's supposed to be playful and saucy - just like my model who posed for the original photography - so enjoy! I take inspiration from strong beautiful women from all genres and this particular image reminded me of a bit of a "razzmatazz" attitude.
« Here, in two dimensions, you with see my brutishly beautiful truth, but mostly beautiful. »
Kerry A. Inkster is a painter and photographer based in Australia whose works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. Through the use of harmonious colors and the "aesthetics of chance", she fuses expressionist backgrounds with pop art foregrounds. Inkster explores themes relating to beautiful and strong women who defy convention. Her distinctive figurative pieces often depict women being cocooned by water, as well as emerging from it.
