About this artwork
Picture in a floating frame (wood glazed white)
Barren grassy landscapes with surprising color experiences through pink colored blades of grass.
Much of Lapland belongs to the northern boreal coniferous forest zone. In addition to the predominant pines and spruces, birches are also common. Because of the harsh climatic conditions, the vegetation is rather sparse and the plants grow slowly. In fells and tundra, grasses and dwarf shrub heather predominate,… interspersed with mosses and lichens.
« My pictures are abstract, but not non-representational. They are expressive and calculated at the same time. The works aim directly at the soul and invite you to dream. »
Kerstin Grobler is a Germany-based artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally (Europe, USA). Her distinctive expressionist landscapes are inspired by nature. Grobler usually begins her series with plein air works to experience her surroundings with all of her senses, and translates the images onto larger canvases in her studio.
Studied art at the Free Academy of Painting, Düsseldorf. Several years of further training with Prof. Markus Lüpertz.
