Koen Lybaert's Moon Jar Vessels are a striking example of his ability to combine traditional forms with a contemporary sensibility. These pieces showcase his mastery of ceramic techniques and his sensitivity to color and texture, resulting in vessels that are as much about artistry as they are about form. Inspired by the traditional Korean moon jar, these vessels maintain the iconic rounded, symmetrical silhouette that conveys a sense of unity and… completeness. The slightly irregular contours give them a handcrafted authenticity, emphasizing Lybaert’s appreciation for organic imperfection. The blue glaze is the highlight of these works. Its depth and variation suggest a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, with subtle gradients that evoke the shifting hues of the moonlit sky or ocean.
Two blue glazed moon jar vessels, hand thrown ceramics. One 15 cm high with a diameter of 15 cm and one 19 cm high with a diameter of 14 cm. Twice fired at 1250°c.
