About this artwork
In creating this piece, I explored the raw, emotive power of abstract expressionism combined with a touch of figurativism. The bold red background serves as a vivid canvas that amplifies the striking black form, which emerges dynamically, suggesting resilience and ascent amidst trials. This silk screen print encapsulates a spirit of persistent vigor, adding a pulsating energy to any room it inhabits. The poster is on a sturdy board, framed and ready… to be hang.
Konrad Zając holds three master’s degrees: in computer science engineering (West Pomeranian University of Technology), graphic design (Academy of Art in Szczecin), and poster art (Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw). Inspired by the visual impact of information systems, he shifted from engineering to graphic design, blending cinematography, typography, and poster art under mentors like prof. Lex Drewiński, prof. Michał Kacperczyk, and Dr. Marcin Władyka—key figures in the legendary Polish School of Posters. Rooted in Poland’s rich artistic tradition, his work merges painting, cinematography, and storytelling, often reflecting Polish culture. His posters, exhibited globally (Slovakia, Turkey, South Korea, USA, and more), continue Poland’s legacy as a leader in poster art. Zając’s practice spans drawing, painting, and animation, but he is best known for his innovative, internationally recognized posters.
