About this artwork
This piece captures a serene moment of solitude and stillness by the pool. I was inspired by an old vintage photograph I found, that had a figure sitting by the pool, and labeled 'where i live' on the backside. I used this photograph because the person reminded me of myself to a certain degree and I like the idea of bridging the gap between the past and present, and finding connection with strangers.

Kory Alexander is a Los Angeles-based oil painter, trained at the University of Texas at Dallas, whose background in art, technology, and design infuses his creative process. Drawing inspiration from the impressionist movement, he uses expressive brushstrokes, layered colors, and sculptural techniques to evoke dreamlike domestic and landscape scenes—often featuring queer themes, swimming pools, and Palm Springs vistas. His art radiates a gentle longing for love, escapism, and the serenity of finding beauty and peace in the present moment.
