About this artwork
"Autumn" belongs to the "Horizons" series. These acrylic paintings on canvas are created by repeatedly overpainting dynamic, colorful interweavings of weaving patterns that I have developed over the years and layered in different combinations. The two color fields are separated by a thin line, the horizon. The faster the harmonious color combination of the two fields emerges, the more clearly the original image shines through. The line is what remains… unchanged from the original image. It symbolizes the past that we remember. For me, past and horizon are intrinsically linked. We see both, both are there, one real, the other nevertheless unattainable before our mind's eye.
I mix the paints partly at the table, partly directly on the canvas. This results in colors and combinations that exist only in that particular painting; no color is exactly repeatable.
Kristina Bangert is a multifaceted painter and sculptor with roots in acting, performance, and directing, working primarily with acrylics on canvas, wood, paper, and clay. She’s known for her adventurous approach—layering vivid colors and experimenting with tools from brushes to her fingers—producing abstract, luminous landscapes and transforming human-like figures. Her art radiates a powerful sense of connection, dynamic energy, and calm, aiming to bring color, peace, and joy to the viewer’s experience.
