Having become a legend, he did not become a star. Many of his bizarre antics served as the basis for ridiculous stories that never actually happened, enveloping his semi-anonymous life with an aura of mystery. Flashing brightly in his youth, he lived the rest of his life as a hermit, abandoning music and disowning his former self.
