About this artwork
In this artwork, I explored the vulnerability and resilience of the human spirit through the mingling of acrylic, charcoal, enamel, and ink, weaving expressionism with figurative nuances. The juxtaposition of the two figures, isolated yet echoing each other's posture, embodies a silent conversation about solitude and internal strength. I intended this piece to provoke introspection and resilience, offering a dynamic emotional presence to any space… it inhabits.
Laura Pretto Vargas is an Italo-Brazilian painter living between Milan and Miami, who studied at Istituto Marangoni Milano and Accademia di Belli Arti di Brera. Her technique embraces expressive, intuitive brushstrokes infused with vibrant colors, abstracted forms, and a keen sense of cultural duality that evolves from her experiences on two continents. She channels her imagination and memories into structured yet emotionally charged compositions, inviting viewers to feel the raw energy and profound introspection that inhabit each of her works.
