About this artwork
The Under the puppetmaster's strings was my first Marionett series painting.
”And there I came.
I was strip from everythig that I had
and then reformed to something
that was pleased to somebody else wishes.
Though one thing I was able to decide from me.
And that was my name.
And that I chose to be Marionett
because that's what I felt there to be;
a marionet-puppet without own will to decide,
tide with strings to do what
stringmaster at each time… would decided.”

Laura Tohila
Finland
Laura Tohila, a self-taught painter and drawer, discovered her passion for art early in her life. Her vibrant style engages a diverse palette, often using her emotions to shape the subject matter. Ever curious, she courageously explores techniques that speak to still moments, all scale and range of feelings including sorrow, fear and uncertainty but also calm wondering, joy and friendship. Tohila's art unapologetically invites introspection, probing at the viewer's depths and encouraging them to unearth and observe their inner selves.
