About this artwork
The carafes and bottles are simplified into geometric shapes and flat planes of color, allowing them to be seen as completely decomposed into multiple facets and from several perspectives simultaneously. The object loses its functionality to become a pure visual composition. The different textures evoke the passage of time; the wear and tear of objects and their history.

Laura Vals is an Argentinian born painter and draftsman who resides in France. Her international background and study in graphic design, visual communication and illustration is translated into her abstract pieces. Vals’ works center around themes relating to immigration, land, as well as distance. Her paintings, which are sometimes collage-based, are created using acrylics on canvas or paper.
