About this artwork
In "The Ring of Time," the tire, marked by use and movement, is transformed into a circular form evoking the infinite cycle of time. Its meticulous braiding suggests an act of repair, a patient reconstruction in the face of wear and tear.
At the heart of this structure, the slate is not left raw: it is sculpted, polished, and shaped against its natural form. This transformation gives it an organic and sensitive dimension, as if the mineral material… bore the traces of a transformed past.
The perforations and alterations then become signs, imprints of the passage of time, between resistance and adaptation. The work creates a tension between rigidity and flexibility, memory and transformation, in a dynamic of rebirth where each material recounts its own metamorphosis.
