About this artwork
A work produced after graduating in summer 2025 prior to starting my MA Fine Art at ual/central saint martins in London. Starting to create my own models using AI technology. This powerful portrait starts a journey from reality of representation towards the true thoughts of the artist. A pivotal shift is happening within this work as the artist prepares to attend the worlds No.2 art school. A 2 year extended MA in Fine Art.

Laurie Strachan, a UK-born painter and Wolverhampton School of Art graduate, works exclusively in oil on large-scale canvases, drawing from a rich background in Fine Art. His dramatic, monochromatic portraits merge photographic reference with bold, rapid brushwork, powerfully playing with shade, shadow, and raw canvas in ways that reference both classical and contemporary influences. Constantly pushing technique with UV/Blacklight technology and AI-based imagery, he evokes awe, intrigue, and intense introspection, inviting each viewer into a charged conversation with his haunting, captivating subjects.
