The artist has tried to merge melancholy and hope, since he portrayed in his own way the famous Danish statue that represents the protagonist, Little Mermaid, of one of the most famous fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen, The Little Mermaid. The painting was made on paper with acrylic colors and watercolors, through a mixed technique, and presents a brilliant contrast thanks to the use of glitter applied with glue, which makes this work unique… in its kind.
The solitary figure, sitting on the rock, looks towards infinity, reflecting on a world beyond the visible. The artist has used some cold tones soaked in blues and grays to evoke a feeling of introspection, while touches of warm color suggest the persistence of a dream as confirmed by the shine expressed by the glitter scattered on the paper that mixes.
Len Vernaghi, originally from Porrentruy but deeply rooted in Italy, is a multidisciplinary person: painter, photographer, designer, textile artist, engraver, sculptor. He stands out for his portable fresco technique, combining traditional pigments with alternative solutions, and uniting contrasting themes and styles. Her works reveal a powerful socio-political commitment, giving voice to frugality, nature, femininity and marginal places, with an atmosphere of wonder derived from her dreamlike subjects.
