About this artwork
Astonishing reflections on the parquet floor through the blind covering the large window of Eugène Delacroix's studio had amazed me. It was after daydreaming in the garden opposite the studio, whose lawn was covered with patches of light and shadow, that the idea came to me to paint this picture.
The small work by Delacroix, exhibited in the studio, "Romeo and Juliet (scene from the Capulet tombs)", had moved me, which is why I wanted to include… it in my painting.
A mixture of real and unreal...
Born into an artistic background, Leonora Carpi mainly uses oil paint on various supports. With a predilection for umbrella pine, she creates exciting contrasts of light and color, preparing her supports with a layer of acrylic color. She has retained a predilection for precise brushstrokes, refined by years of painting restoration. Demandingness and meticulousness structure a contemplation and give it its style: clarity, purity and simplicity.
