About this artwork
In Genesis of Instinct, I wanted to depict the primordial moment when life seeks its path. The concept stems from an image I hold dear: that of a cat who, gripped by a sudden, ancestral fear, finds its sole and complete refuge by clinging tightly to a tree trunk. In that gesture, there is not only survival, but a return to the origins.
With this work, I lay bare our own fear in the face of the chaos of the modern world and our primal instinct to… seek protection in nature. The lines you see are not simple strokes, but roots and claws that merge with the very essence of the earth. I created Genesis to remind myself and those who observe it that, no matter how profound our anguish, there is always a natural sanctuary in which to take refuge and be reborn. It is a spiritual work: an invitation to rediscover that tree of life to cling to and finally feel safe. I hope you enjoy it. Lhandy.
