About this artwork
This artwork vividly captures a bustling city scene, showcasing a street teeming with activity. The perspective draws the viewer into the avenue, lined with elegant buildings and delicately painted trees. The palette is vibrant yet soft, dominated by hues of yellow and blue, infusing the scene with a lively yet serene ambiance. Horse-drawn carriages and pedestrians fill the street, illustrating a moment frozen in time that reflects the energy of… urban life. The use of light is masterful, with reflections glistening on the wet pavement, suggesting a recent rain. The composition is balanced, with an inviting clarity that guides the eye through the lively thoroughfare. Notably, the Impressionistic style is evident in the loose brushstrokes, creating a dreamlike quality that elevates the everyday scene into a timeless spectacle, making it a quintessential example of the genre’s ability to capture the essence of modernity. This work was inspired by a visit to Paris and the Musée Dorsay,
« In my works, I try to portray not a human face or body, but a soul. »
