At the age of seven, Clara Haskil already carried within her that troubling mixture of fragility and inner strength that would mark her destiny. A precocious piano genius, she endured illness, exile and oblivion before being recognized as one of the greatest interpreters of Mozart.
Her playing, of unparalleled purity, touched the very essence of music, as if each note bore the imprint of a life of struggle and transcendence. Clara Haskil did not… only play Mozart, she embodied him.
Through this drawing, inspired by a photo of her at the age of seven, I seek to capture this sensitive and luminous soul, that of an artist whose resilience has been transformed into a timeless musical grace.
