About this artwork
Lilith was the first wife of Adam, born on a par with the first man (and not by his side). A disagreement arose between the two as the first woman did not want to be submissive: this was how she abandoned Eden. Remained immortal, since she had not eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Lilith was made by tradition a demon. Here the artist proposes a dark image of it but to which respect and dignity are restored: we are in fact children…
of a male-dominated tradition that has demonized the legitimate aspiration of equality of the female. By now Lilith is forced into a lugubrious condition and is an archetype that contains the shadows and pitfalls of a gloomy and even dangerous lunar, but which the painting invites to know and rediscover with kindness and reverence.

« My art is a meditative act. My goal is to seek my elevation by depositing the fruits of my inner work on the canvas. »
Lorenzo Sperzaga is an Italian painter whose works have been widely exhibited on a national level. Inspired by the Baroque, his paintings feature subjects with dramatic expressions, and contain symbolism associated with spiritual themes. He also explores the interplay between light and shadow, and the symbolism inherent in both. Sperzaga's artistic process focuses on the 'emotional condition' and concentration. He creates using oils, enamels, and acrylics on canvas.
