I build my shrines with admitted irreverence, but as a devotee of beauty and amazing grace. No matter where I’ve gone in the world, I am most drawn to the religious spaces and everything they tell me about the culture, the people, about art, about God. My love of Mexico inspires these shrines: every Cathedral is a dazzling kaleidoscope of unabashed passion. The miraculous, the macabre, and the majestic. I excavate snippets of my experiences and curiosities… from the treasure troves of collected ideas and images I store, and arrange them. I am also moved in these collage paintings by the command and call of love, and by art and beauty, whimsey, wonder, and answered prayers.
Collage, painting, and mixed media on stretched canvas. Edges painted black, wire on back, ready to hang. Second image shows sample reverse from this format.
