About this artwork
A dense and intense form makes its way towards its distant future, colonizing the space like a creeper. In contrast to this vital impulse, the background is treated in desaturated tones but is brought back to the frontal plane by black and red which do not fade in perspective. I am fascinated by the strength of primary life to adapt to its natural environment. I wish I could feel at times the incredible primal power of instinct stripped of the intellect,…
becoming one with my natural surroundings. It is by trying to get rid of all thought that I create the necessary conditions for the creation of this kind of painting in order to let the body express itself, the brain being there only to curb the excesses and overflows inherent in this practice.

Luc Andrieux is an artist based in France whose works have been presented in several solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. For him, painting is like a vital necessity. Through his compositions, Andrieux's goal is to generate a questioning contemplation, to freeze time and to induce an atmosphere suggested by the hidden face of the elements. His abstractions, landscapes and figurative works are most often created using acrylics on canvas, oil being reserved for the treatment of more complex effects. Luc Andrieux does not limit himself to a particular style or theme that would limit his expression but chooses those that are most in line with his vision of the moment.
