About this artwork
In this oil painting, I wanted to capture the intensity of a gaze that conveys complex and profound emotions. With bold, textured brushstrokes, I enhanced the warm colors and essential details, conveying a sense of suspense and inner strength. This painting exudes vibrant energy and an aura of mystery that will illuminate any space, inviting reflection on the soul hidden beneath the surface.
Lucia Emanuela Curzi earned a Bachelor's degree in Media Design from NABA (Nuova Academy of Fine Arts) and currently serves as a University Professor. Her practice interrogates the construction of feminine identity within contemporary mass media, transitioning from a distinguished background in fashion to a visceral painterly language. Working primarily in oil on linen, Curzi explores the tension between the polished "spectacle" of the fashion image and the psychological complexity of the subject, often using the motif of the swan as a liminal threshold between the body and the unconscious. Her work has been exhibited internationally at prestigious institutions and galleries, including the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), Tate Britain (London), J/M Gallery (London, 2024). Curzi's research is informed by a fifteen-year tenure shaping the visual narratives of global luxury and publishing.
