About this artwork
In this oil pastel painting, I wanted to capture the profound calm and mystery of the sea at dusk. The boat, a symbol of travel and hope, stands out against a sea of ever-changing emotions, in shades of green and blue. I sought to convey that feeling of solitude and peace, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in an embrace of tranquility and reflection.
Lucio Salzano primarily uses oil pastels and mixed media on humble supports, with a background that also encompasses theater and the intersection of various artistic languages. His incredibly expressive technique manifests itself through vibrant colors, especially shades of blue, in compositions that intertwine dreamlike elements and a conceptual layering of the real and the imaginary. His works convey profound emotions and invite the viewer to question themselves and be transported by ever-evolving interior landscapes.
