About this artwork
Grendizer, under the influence of LSD, decides to light Bender's DMT pipe using space thunder. In this oil painting, I wanted to capture a moment of encounter charged with energy and irony, combining the world of cartoons with a pop art touch. I also wanted to compare cartoon robots from two different eras: the robots of the '80s fought aliens, while the more recent robots are ironic, drunken, and embarrassing caricatures. Every line and color conveys… the tension but also the interplay between these two iconic characters.
Luigi Monti, a graduate illustrator who has expanded his artistic horizons from abstraction to logos, then to Pop Art mixed with psychedelia. He brilliantly fuses Pop Art with the psychedelic underground creating "Pop Art Psy", characterized by irony and surprise. His works emanate a vibrant joie de vivre, reflecting a paradoxical and surreal vision of the world that fills viewers with wonder and smiles.
