About this artwork
In this reinterpretation of a self-portrait by Van Gogh, I ventured to explore what I could achieve using only natural earths, without resorting to pigments or paints. My goal was to capture the artist's brushstrokes through earthy tones and swirling movements, hallmark characteristics of the Impressionist style. By looking directly at the observer, I invite them to dive into the complexities of the emotions and thoughts that emerge from this expression.… This painting embodies resilience and introspection, offering a powerful presence that would undoubtedly bring depth and reflection to any space.
Luzia Sobreiro, with roots in architecture, uses natural earths as her medium, transforming primordial elements into sublime artistry. She's mastered a spectrum of techniques; from landscapes to abstract forms, her eclecticism shines along with her commitment to sustainability. Each of her works captures the essence of nature, encapsulates geological narratives, and exudes aesthetic splendor, inviting viewers to appreciate their fundamental connection with the environment.
