About this artwork
To inhabit the edge just before entering.
Before Entering is a series of nine pieces born from a moment of transition. Something began to stir within me, though it hasn't fully revealed itself yet. Each work functions as a record of that intermediate state: an instant suspended between what was and what is about to happen. I paint through layering, gesture, and matter, as a way of remaining on that threshold, of inhabiting the time before change.
Mónica Isidoro is an Argentinian visual artist based in the Iberian Peninsula who works primarily with acrylic paint, gesso, and mixed media on various surfaces, with a solid academic background in visual arts. She employs a gestural abstraction constructed from superimposed layers, exploring the relationship between gesture, matter, and memory. Her style is characterized by transparency, dynamism, and textural traces that evoke constantly transforming atmospheres. Her works convey sensations of transition, silence, and emotional depth, inviting the viewer to pause and breathe before the echo of what is suggested.
