About this artwork
Behind that chrome front, the last thing you would expect was a yellow, old, classic American school bus that was parked at a bus station in Guatemala. If you look closely, you can see the surroundings distorted by the chrome front.
I painted the picture with acrylic inks on a special airbrush cardboard, a complex process in many thin layers of glaze, sprayed with airbrush, classic hyperrealism in its conception.
When you walk around the picture… you have the feeling for a while that you are walking in an arc around the front, the perspective moves with you, a great effect.
Framing it behind museum glass would make sense to protect the surface of the picture.
Manfred Hönig, trained in physics and philosophy, creates impressive realistic works using acrylic, oil and watercolor techniques. He uses brushes and airbrushes to create spatial illusions that suggest authenticity and immerse the viewer in the subject, free of unnecessary embellishments. His art conveys a deep understanding of the transience of life, embedded in the dignity and aesthetics of the decay and beauty of nature.
