About this artwork
The photograph "Centre Pompidou Graffiti" was actually taken in the square of the Center Pompidou in Paris by the artist Manuella Muerner Marioni. She was literally attracted to this graffiti: Today, graffiti (Italian; singular graffito) is a collective term for thematically and creatively different visible elements, for example images, lettering or signs, which are created using different techniques on surfaces or by changing them in private and…
public spaces became. The graffiti are mostly made under a pseudonym and illegally. However, this graffiti was so unique because of the realistic depiction of the youth sprayed on the crumbling wall. It shows young people celebrating a celebration or party and moving rhythmically to the music, how the whole wall with the dancers becomes the rhythm of shapes and colors.

Manuella Muerner Marioni was born in Thun, Switzerland, in 1964. She studied art and fashion design at the Neue Kunstschule Zürich (Switzerland). After graduating, she spent time abroad studying art in Vienna, Lisbon, Paris, Spain, South America, and the USA. For seven years, she collaborated with the NIKI DE ST. PHALLE FOUNDATION in Germany, Switzerland, France, and the USA. Her work can be seen regularly in group and solo exhibitions in museums, galleries, and cultural centers in Europe, Asia, and the USA, including the Zhou Brothers Foundation in Chicago, the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art in Las Vegas, and solo exhibitions at the International Museum of Contemporary Art ITALIA ARTE in Turin, as well as Artifact Gallery in New York. The artist regularly participates in major art fairs such as Art San Diego, Art Expo in New York, and Spectrum Red Dot in Miami (USA). In March 2023, her artworks were exhibited at the Tokyo Tower Art Fair 2023.
