About this artwork
„Série 'Darkness in My Mind' není jen souborem obrazů, je to můj osobní deník vnitřních krajin. Jako umělec věřím, že krása a pravda se často skrývají v místech, kam se bojíme podívat – ve stínech naší mysli, v tichu izolace a v melancholii existence.
Každé plátno je průzkumem duality. Používám postavy morových doktorů, zahalených postav nebo zvířat v dramatickém šerosvitu, abych zhmotnil pocity, pro které nemáme slova. Kontrast mezi hlubokou černí… a pronikavým světlem symbolizuje věčný souboj mezi tíhou světa a nadějí, která z ní vyvěrá. Touto sérií zvu diváka, aby se přestal bát své vlastní temnoty a našel v ní klid, katarzi a nečekanou estetiku.“

Mar Ko is a self-taught painter based in suburban Prague, working primarily with oil on canvas in the solitude of his home studio. His artworks are haunting yet beautiful explorations of the human psyche, illuminating the spectrum from raw fear to quiet hope, and inviting viewers into an honest, cathartic emotional dialogue.
