About this artwork
In this piece, I wanted to capture the ephemeral beauty of a butterfly using oil on canvas. I was inspired by the delicacy and transformation that these creatures symbolize. I used vibrant textures and colors to evoke a sense of freedom and renewal. Marc Janus is a Spanish artist whose paintings have been featured in several solo and group exhibitions nationally. His intention is to convey beauty through his art, as it is "everywhere and you just have to stop to look". Janus' research into the wooden blocks used in ancient Egyptian culture to decorate fabrics has influenced his artistic expression over the past twelve years. He creates order then destroys it, producing an engaging balance that lives in chaos and disorder.
