About this artwork
The painting depicts a young woman, around twenty years old, calmly sipping a pink drink from a simple glass. She sits in a café by a large, bright window, where soft yellow reflections of sunlight fill the space with a warm, summery glow. Although indoors, she wears orange sunglasses, shielding her eyes from the brightness. Her light outfit—a simple blouse with thin straps, revealing her shoulders, arms, and neckline—enhances the relaxed, holiday… atmosphere of the scene.
The work is created with high-quality acrylic paints in a style inspired by delicate cubism. The face and hands are built from subtly arranged geometric planes that remain close to realism, while depth is achieved through chiaroscuro and multiple layers of thin glazes.
The piece references an earlier work, The Pink Drink (2016), portraying the same girl as a teenager. Now older, she continues to enjoy her favorite drink, symbolizing how certain traits remain constant despite the passage of time.
Marcin Filip Banasik is a painter and draftsman with a background rooted in Poznań and the United Kingdom, deeply inspired by both Western and Eastern aesthetics. His techniques range from delicate glazing and bold impasto in oils and acrylics to masterful water-soluble graphite drawings, often blending realism with abstraction and urban motifs. Through his refined craftsmanship, his art seeks to evoke timeless elegance, gentle cultural resonance, and a profound sense of contemplative serenity.
