In the Valinor cycle, Marco Manni does not represent an image, he constructs places.
Following “On the Threshold of Gran Burrone,” recently included in the Contea Gentile collection, this work continues a coherent research, where mythical imagery translates into visual space and presence.
The white city emerges as the dominant element.
It doesn't accompany the scene: it dominates it.
The white knight traverses space. It is direction,… tension, measure.
The light, calibrated on blues and whites, defines an immediate balance.
The eye doesn't wander. It stops.
The circular format is not a formal choice.
The circle recalls an ancient pictorial memory, linked to the Renaissance tradition, and at the same time interprets with greater coherence the organic and fluid nature of elven architecture.
Marco Manni builds worlds suspended between reality and imagination, where painting becomes emotional and visual exploration. His compositions, dominated by intense blues and geological forms sculpted by time, evoke interior landscapes rather than real places. The mountains stand out like archetypal presences, the waters flow slowly in rarefied scenarios, while the pictorial material alternates fluidity and density, creating almost sculptural surfaces.
